Bullying Incident Reporting Tool

Report Bullying

The District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) believes that a safe, inclusive, and accepting learning environment that promotes healthy relationships and behaviours is essential for student success and well-being. As part of our ongoing work to promote safe schools and positive learning environments, please use this tool to report any/all types of bullying.
Note: This tool is not monitored 24/7.

If this is an EMERGENCY, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

Additional mental health and well-being supports and resources (support phone lines, live chats, walk-in clinics) can be found here.

Your school principal can and should always be your first point of contact with any incident, concern or issue. But if you are not ready to connect directly with the school about the bullying incident, please use this reporting tool. If you speak with your principal and still believe you need additional support, contact your school Superintendent. You can find your Superintendent and how to contact them by clicking here.

FAQ

Students are encouraged to discuss incidents of inappropriate behaviour with their families, a trusted staff member, Principal, or a caring adult. Completing a report online should not be a substitute for having a discussion with your teacher or Principal. In the case of severe violence or threat of harm, it is recommended that students, or their families, contact the local police immediately for assistance.
Complete and share specific incident details, as this will assist the school investigation and enable school staff to take action. The ability of the school to take action on reported incidents is dependent upon the principal and vice-principal having sufficient information to proceed with an investigation.

All information submitted in this form will be emailed to the Office of the Superintendent for your school. We encourage students and families to complete the report to the best of their ability. Information may be shared with additional staff as needed.

Community members are encouraged to report incidents directly to the principal of the school.

Reports are considered confidential and will be maintained by the school board. Reports will not be stored in the OSR (Ontario Student Record).

Schools use a progressive discipline approach when inappropriate behaviour occurs. This means we consider a range of interventions, supports and consequences to determine the most appropriate response to help students learn from their choices. This range of responses could include, for example, counselling, withdrawal of privileges, peer mediation, restorative practices, suspension or expulsion, or other responses. This approach promotes positive student behaviour, repairs harm, and encourages healthy relationships

It is unlawful to make allegations that are untrue. Students making vexatious (false or aggravating) statements may be subject to student discipline. Where it is determined that an individual has made allegations either knowing them to be false or disregarding the fact that the allegations could be false, this information may be passed along to authorities for investigation. Details of the incident may be shared with those reported to be involved without sharing who made the report.
